Chuck
was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there up until 1984. He
grew up on Menard on the N.W. side, right next to St. Angela's where
He went to school everyday. He was precocious. He would rock and
bang his head next to the refrigerator, but he had an abundant amount
of energy. He would come home for lunch each day and play hockey
at the park after school. He fancied himself one heck of a hockey
player, each time I see Happy Gilmore I think of him. He got an
acoustical guitar one year (used of course) and taught himself to
play. I remember many of the stories he told me from childhood.
He went to St. Patrick
high school and was in chorus and band. He played football for
a while, until he ruined the cartilage in his right knee. He was
a very good student, but a bit of a discipline problem. Chuck
would be what I called a "hood". It was always "Rauh
and Company" when something went wrong in class. his friend,
Bob Brullo and others formed a band in school. He earned the name
Stony, for his stone face while playing. They did quite well,
but went there separate ways after high school.

After a year in college
at Southern University, Chuck was drafted. He was sent to Viet
Nam, and did an extended tour with the 1st army air . He was a
door gunner, which I'm sure many of you that have been there know
that means He flew gunships. Hearing the song "They say it's
your birthday" always reminds me of his time there. He turned
21 in Viet Nam, and acquired his taste for scotch.

Chuck and Mike during one of the
many camping and hunting trips to Michigan. The two of them did
many things together, including hunting, fishing, camping. The
sadest moments came when we drove to Michigan for Mike's father
Daryl's death. He was a wonderful man and a inspiration to Chuck. The
snow storm that kept us from leaving was like a sign to us, to
always remember the force of nature, respect the earth.

Our Home in Memphis during one of
the few Snow storms. After Chuck's death the top of House was
hit by lightning and burned. That was a good indication it was
time for us to move on.

Chuck loved his motorcycles and
riding. He was a true outdoorsman, but was a very effective businessman.
Most of his skills were self taught, through determination.
SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT (traditional)
swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home.

Coming for to carry me home.
I looked over Jordan, what do I
see,
Coming for to carry me home.
a band of Angels coming after me,
Coming for to carry me home.
